An iconic hill in the city
Santa Lucía Hill has been one of the most important landmarks since the founding of Santiago on February 12, 1541. The monumental neoclassical entrance to the hill was completed in 1902 and is arranged around a sculpture of the god Neptune: an architectural ensemble with curved staircases, fountains, a wide terrace and a triumphal arch crowned by a dome.
The ensemble offers a very evocative picture of the lifestyle of Santiago’s high society in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
